While I'm Waiting

Hey ya’ll! Well, I’m pretty new with this. I was trying to think of what I could possibly use this for or what I could say. After thinking about it, I decided to use this to talk about the things I love most, my God and my faith and the many blessings I’ve received. So for my first post, I just want to share what I taught in my prayer group this past Tuesday.

Lately, God has really been teaching me about waiting for His timing, whether that be in relationships, careers, or anything at all. I based my lesson off of the song “While I’m Waiting” by John Waller from the movie “Fireproof” (by the way, if you have not seen this movie, I strongly recommend it for any dating or married couple). The words to this song just really spoke to me. Read through these then I’ll meet you below.

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait

I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord

These lyrics really challenged me. I’m waiting on God for a lot of things. First, there’s my vocation, I know what I’m supposed to do, but what am I doing in the meantime? Then there is the matter of where am I going after I graduate? Where is God calling me? How am I going to pay off my school debt? When will I find the person I’ll say “I do” to and spend my earthly life with? I realized I’m relying on God so much, which requires me to wait on His timing and not my own.

This raises anther thought, what am I doing for the Lord while I’m waiting? Am I following Him with my whole heart? Am I worshipping Him and giving Him my all? I’ve found that if I read His love letter to me every day and talk with Him regularly, He unfolds His plans right in front of me. When I’m doing that, I don’t even worry or care about the things I’m waiting for. I am completely engulfed in Him, and I love it. So while I’m waiting on God to show me the next step, I need to just be the best daughter I can be. I will do my best in all that I put my mind to and do it for His glory and not my own. Whether that be as a prayer leader, student, daughter, or friend.

Something else to add is when you give yourself over to His will, He will bless you beyond all reason. God has blessed me with such amazing parents and family, an awesome school where I can learn more about my Savior and what He has for me. He has also blessed me with the most wonderful and godly friends I could ask for. God knew what I needed and He provided. His love is endless and unconditional. Trust Him.

So what are you trusting God with? Are you relying on Him? What are you doing while you wait on His timing? And are you willing to leave everything you’ve planned behind and wait on Him?
